Erdbeeren gibt es auch auf unserer Seite des großen Teiches. Doch kilometerweit durch Erdbeerduft zu fahren, ist für einen Europäer eine ungewohnte Erfahrung.

Strawberries exist also on our side of the pond. But to drive for miles and miles in the perfume of strawberries, is for an European an unusual experience.

Ebenso dann plötzlich eine fremde Mischung dieses Duftes mit dem Geruch der Buschfeuer um Los Angeles, die besonders den Erdbeerpflückern dieses Jahr Probleme bereitet haben.

And than all of a sudden the smell of the enormous wildfires round Los Angeles, which caused problems for the strawberry pickers mixed with the smell of strawberries.

Jedoch der Dunst des Meeres im Mai und Juni bestimmt in vielen Orten der kalifornischen Küste das Ambiente durch mildes Grau, wie an der ostfriesischen Küste und treibt das gleiche Farbenspiel wie dort.

But the ocean mist of the Pacific in May and June dominates in a lot of places of  the californian coast  the environment with a mild grey, like at the east frisian coast and does the same play of colours like there.

Und am Abend geht die gleiche Sonne beim “Aperitivo” in den gleichen wunderbaren Farben unter, in Marina di Pietrasanta in Italien, wie in Venice Beach, Kalifornien.

And in the evening, for the “aperitivo”,  the same sun sets down , in the same marvelous colours,
in Marina di Pietrasanta in Italy as in Venice Beach, California.

Und doch ist alles so anders.    So nah und so fern.
