“DE VROUW JOHANNA” in the east Frisian harbor town of Emden.

“Res mira”, die wundersame Sache, nannte der ostfriesische Astronom Fabricius 1596 einen Stern im Sternbild Cetus, der ständig seine Leuchtkraft ändert und dadurch zu Galileos Zeiten das Weltbild auf den Kopf stellte.
“Res mira,” the wondrous thing, was so named by the east Frisian astronomer Fabricius in 1596 – it is a star in the constellation of Cetus, which continuously changes its luminosity; this discovery turned upside-down the view of the world in the times of Galileo.

Eine wundersame Sache ist all das Sein,
unfaßbare Unendlichkeit der Galaxien,
unendliche Tiefe im Mikrokosmos;
Leben geboren aus Sternenstaub,
all die Wesens-Spezialisierungen aus dem Ursprung einer Zelle.
WIE KANN DAS ALLES SEIN?

A wondrous thing still remains all being,
intangible endlessness of all galaxies,
infinitely deep in microcosms;
life born of star dust,
all beings specialized of the origin of one cell.
HOW CAN ALL THIS BE?
In der Ausstellung wurde solch einem Staunen über die Schönheit
des Seins, und möglichen Welt- Erklärungsmodellen darüber in Objekten aus Marmor, Bronze, und Kunst-Drucken mit Poesie Ausdruck verliehen.
In the show “Res mira” all this awe, of the beauty of being, and possible models to explain all this, were shown in art-objects of marble, bronze, and fine art prints together with poetry.
