Und andere Schätze in der Toskana: Auf den Spuren der Etrusker ______________On the “Trails” of the Etruscans

In der jetzigen Toskana erstreckt sich das ehemalige Land der geheimnisvollen Etrusker. Von wo kamen sie, und warum ging ihr Volk unter? Bis heute sind diese Rätsel nicht gänzlich erforscht.

Present-day Tuscany spans the former territory of the mysterious Etruscans. Where did they come from and why did they disappear? Even today these mysteries aren’t entirely explored.

Überall in der Toskana finden wir noch heute unzählige Zeugen des damaligen mächtigen Volkes. Riesige Nekropolen erstrecken sich über das ganze Land, zum Teil noch gut bedeckt von zwei Jahrtausenden Erdreich, das die Überreste der Etrusker fürsorglich beschützt, die woanders ganz entblößt und ungeschützt leider dem Verfall durch Wind und Wetter ausgesetzt sind.

Everywhere in Tuscany you can still find innumerable testimonies of the former powerful people. Huge necropoles stretch across the whole countryside, partly still well covered by two milleniums of soil which caringly protects the Etruscan remains, at other places they are completely exposed and sadly left to the erosion from wind and weather.

Eine schöne Sammlung geretteter Ausgrabungsstücke ist in dem archäologischem Museum von Grosseto zu sehen.
